Arthrosis
presents itself as a painful damage to the cartilage in the joints
caused by friction, abrasion, wear and tear and/or occasionally, an
injury. Arthrosis can occur in any joint, but it is most prevalent in
the knee, hip, ankle and wrist.
Arthrosis
manifests itself by acute episodes of pain and/or by continuous
chronic pain, debilitating discomfort and movement restrictions.
There is no concomitant inflammation present in the arthrotic joints.
Arthrosis
is very debilitating and restrictive. It has an adverse impact on the
sufferer's quality of life.
Historically,
arthrosis used to be managed mainly by pain killing medication. More
recently, arthrotic problems can be successfully addressed by more
modern therapy modalities and/or complex therapy systems that are
effective, well tolerated and safe. Therapeutic goals include
effective pain reduction, increase in mobility, better quality of
life and, when possible, slowing down of the damaging process.
Laser
phototherapy works well as a stand alone therapeutic modality or as a
part of a therapy system, offering many benefits to people affected
by arthrosis. Regular treatment with laser light produces outstanding
results in the management of arthrotic problems. The high energy
light soothes the diseased tissues. There is a marked increase in
blood flow that helps to slow down the progress of deterioration. In
parallel to improved mobility, the quality of life improves, too.
