Trigeminal Neuralgia

Print
Trigeminal neuralgia is a severe facial pain that is often confined to one side of the face. The exact cause of the trigeminal neuralgia is not known, but it is thought to originate from irritation or damage to trigeminal nerve. The pain starts suddenly and lasts for varying periods of time from minutes to hours. The trigeminal neuralgic pain is usually sharp, stabbing, tearing, cutting and burning. The attacks are initiated by simple stimuli, such as touching facial skin, chewing, face washing, brushing the teeth or even speaking. The facial areas most commonly affected are the upper and/or lower jaw, nose, cheeks, chin, forehead and scalp. The pain is intense and can be difficult to control. There is no cure for trigeminal neuralgia. The pain killers are not effective and therefore, other medications, such as anticonvulsants, opioids or antidepressants are used. For many sufferers, only radical surgical approaches seem to work successfully.

Laser phototherapy offers effective and safe natural treatment option in the management of trigeminal neuralgia. Biostimulating laser light shows its regenerating effects by a noticeable and lasting pain reduction. The soothing laser light relaxes the tissues, making them less susceptible to intense pain. Laser phototherapy is a truly unique therapeutic modality that reflects innovative therapeutic orientation of modern medical practice.
